This breed originated in Germany. German Shepherds are working dogs. They were earlier referred to as Alsatians, in Britain. German Shepherds were originally meant for sheep herding and thus were common among herders. This breed of dogs has a domed forehead along with a long square-cut muzzle. They have strong jaws that are capable of causing intense harm due to their scissor-like bite. They have erect ears, which give them an alert look along with a bushy tail. Their long neck is usually raised when excited and lowered when running.
