We are unfortunately having to rehome our much loved German shepherd, LEO (1 year old) because our house situation is not suiting him.
Leo is micro-chipped, vaccinated (to be topped up in June 2023) however, not de-sexed yet as was recommended by vet to give him the Suprelorin implant for the time being (that temporarily sterilises for 6 months).
He is an excited puppy and loves to play, smell plants and get lots of cuddles from his people. Leo is a strong, healthy and energetic dog and would do much better in a home with a spacious backyard or farm house.
Leo is currently at a adolescent stage where he is quite naughty sometimes, and requires calm attention to redirect his behaviour. He is a very protective boy too (but as a puppy doesnt know how to manage that emotion correctly) .. so he is reactive to some males and dogs (and e-scooters!!) while on leash during walks.
We have been trying to train him, the trainers say that Leo is a very sharp and loving dog, just needs a strong and consistent owner who is experienced, has time to invest and in confident in taking care of such breeds.
We are struggling to provide leo the kind of consistent and strong training he needs to improve his reactive behaviours. He would also do really well in a farmhouse or place with big safe outdoor area to release his excess energy, relax and play.
This is the hardest decision for us to let him go however, our family situation is quite sensitive due to other matters.
Please reach out if you have any questions and take into consideration the above info to decide if you can provide Leo the home he needs.
